.....and now today

.....Just to let you know, nothing in this journal's entry is toward anyone in specific, I use it to write my feelings, and about my illnesess, and in hopes it might help someone else as I do.I do not pretend nor imatate to be someone I'm not. And if you might take an entry wrong and feel that it is about you, I'm sorry but It isn't, it just may seem to coincide with your own life. And if there is something in what I write that "offends" you, options; don't read, or realize that this IS real life, and get out of your plastic bubble and learn more about it! God bless you!......

Good morning to all of you!

I really need to log this. I've never had any problams with my blood pressure. Just a bit low here and there and thats it. Last night, my husband and I were sitting on my bed talking and watching tv. Nothing out of the ordinary. All of the sudden, it felt as if I got whacked on my forehead with a 2x4! It felt like maybe I was going to have a seizure. Like an aura I'll get. I got room spins and was pretty dizzy feeling. I just sat there holding on to my bed rail. Nothing I was doing seemed to help. My husband suggested that I take my blood pressure. So, he went and got the machine. I took it and it was 135/96 and my pulse was 89! I honestly don't know if that is very high or not. But, I did keep checking it every hour. It didn't fluctuate very much at all. 136/90 and pulse 86. And all I was doing was just sitting in my bed! I took it again when I got up this morning, and it was 132/90 and my pulse was 89. I have no idea what is going on now. When I do have seizures, I do know that my blood pressure gets low, not like this!

I'm just so glad that my husband is here with me today. He asked me if going into assisted living would help me? I don't know. He's worried about me. I get scared to be alone. It's hard to explain the way I feel. This morning, I am having the shakes/tremors again. I'm on a diet so I'm not eating anything that would do this to me. Nor am I having any problems thats going on in my life.

Yesterday, my husband put up a banister/hand rail on out front steps. Now it won't be as hard as it was for me to use the front steps. :o)

Well...I needed to log this stuff. It's so hard to tell whats what and why things are happening to my body. I'm clueless about this one. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. :o)
Thank you for listening to me! Have the best Sunday you can! Gods blessings to all of you!

I don't know what your BP usually is, seems everyones "norm" is a little different. Textbook says 120/70, but it really does differ in everyone.
But most Drs agree that over 90 for a dystolic IS high...but still 96 shouldn't make the sudden symptoms you describe. 135 is NOT very high for a systolic in most folks.
I would expect it to be up a little if you were having pain or something else going on, but may not have been the actual cause.
Need to get it checked out ASAP.

Sugar

The second number in the bloodpressure should be below 90, Lisa. Difficult to say what's going on - combination of things probably.

Take it a day at a time hon, and try not to get stressed about this. Your blood pressure is a bit high, but not dangerously so. I'm not certain what your doctor feels is safe for you. For some people this would be in the normal/ or safe range, for others it would be too high. Ask your doctor what yours should be. So glad hubby is putting a hand rail. Perhaps you ought to consider assited living. Many people have chosen that and not regretted it. Big hugs. I hope so much you feel better tomorrow. And I'm glad you share your fears as well as what makes you happy with us. We all care and sharing helps.
Love you,

You are a little high blood pressure-wise, but not horribly so.  It's about borderline.  My mom's doctor said she should NEVER keep taking her blood pressure over and over (hers used to be high anyway but when it would get REALLY high it would scare her and she'd check it ever 15 minutes and would basically worry herself into a tizzy).  You should check your pressure on both arms and then let it go.  If it's high, checking it again won't bring it down.  Check it in the morning and in the evening.  If this is unusal for you though and you're not feeling right, CALL YOUR DOCTOR.

Lisa, if you continue to feel fairly good, when your nurse/caregiver person comes have her check your blood pressure.  Your BP 135/96 is a bit high, especially the second number that needs to be beflow 80 dear, my concern is your dizzyness, need to get that checked out if it continues.  Normal BP is considered 120/80, know my doctors are thrilled as mine always seems to check out 116/68 or less and my pulse between 60-72  If you continue to feel dizzy, etc. go and have it checked out dear. How long has it been since you've had an actual physical?  I mean not going to the dr. for your medical problems but an actual physical.  The bottom # in the lower 90's is slightly high, in the higher 90's, it is high.  A fast pulse and BP reading like that can also be caused by not drinking enough fluids.  Anytime I've had surgery and they took my vitals before surgery, it would usually be high like yours.  Nurses told me it was because I hadn't anything to drink in several hours.  Drs. have told me that if my BP was high 3x in a row, I would have to be put on meds which I haven't. I would get a physical & have it checked out.

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling like this.  I don't know too much about blood pressure but I agree with the other commentor, maybe you should have a complete physical with a full blood panel done.  Your husband sounds wonderful the way he cares & takes care of you.  I surely hope you are feeling better today.
Take care,
Lisa

I would say the fact that your blood pressure was higher than it ordinarily is, quite a bit, is what is cause for concern.  My blood pressure runs around 132/80 as it was when I took it just now, which is a normal good pressure for me, but my mother had low blood pressure even when she was heavy, as does my son Raymond.  My son Gary and Dan's pressure tends to run around what mine does.  Gary had to go on blood pressure pills last year. When I was probably the most ill I ever ws in my life my blood pressure ran 200/118 for 3 months, before Inderal brought it down.  I also had some heart abnormalities at first.  I was really scared as that is dangerous blood pressure.  But if a person's blood pressure normally runs low than quite a big rise is more significant than it always runs higher.  So I think you are right to be concerned.  Especially when other alarming symptoms accompanied.  Gerry
